What is the difference between a Pull Up & a Chin Up?

There a a few different ways to grip the bar when doing a pull up or chin up.

  • An Over-hand Grip (pronated) - This is when your palms are facing away from you.

  • An Underhand Grip (supinated) - This is when your palms are facing you.

  • A Neutral Grip (Semi-supinated) - This is when you palms are facing each other.

The width of the grip is also a factor

  • Wide Grip - This is when you grip the bar wider than your shoulder width

  • Close Grip - This is when you grip the bar the same as or narrower than shoulder width.

What Exercise Options are there with Pull Up Bars?

A Pull Up Bar gives you wider exercise options from your standard sit ups and press ups. You can use a multi-grip bar which allows you to change your grip for performing both pull ups and chin ups or try any of the following using a standard bar:
